What is Electropolishing?
This advanced finishing process uses electrical currents to gently remove a microscopically-thin layer of the stainless steel, including any burrs, embedded particles and impurities. The resulting surface is clean and bright, smooth and even more highly resistant to corrosion and rust than untreated 316 stainless steel.
Research has shown that electropolishing significantly enhances the durability of 316 stainless steel by reducing the surface roughness, enriching the chromium-oxide passive layer, and lowering corrosion rates in chloride environments – for example, coastal areas – compared with mechanically polished surfaces (Springer, 2024).
Electropolish is not a coating, it is a refinement of the material itself.
Low Maintenance
Maintenance is simple, requiring only a wash with mild detergent and water, or just a hose-down when needed. No specialised cleaning or repair of coating is required to protect against corrosion or rust.
