Leppington Station

Leppington in Sydney’s south west is expected to become home to almost 30,000 residents, with heavy infrastructure built to start the transformation from fields and semi-rural properties to inner city-style housing.

The $1.8bn South West Rail Link features two new rail and bus stations, Leppington and Edmondson Park, to connect commuters in one of Sydney’s major growth centres to Paramatta and the CBD.

SFA’s Classic Plaza seats in aluminium and Galleria seats in Jarrah hardwood, Semi Hoop bicycle stands and Frame bin enclosures with eco-certified hardwood battens were specified by architect HASSELL for the outdoor walkways of Leppington Station.

The project won designer KI Studio a NSW AILA Award for Design in Landscape Architecture in 2015 for their integrated art and heritage strategy. Judges say the playful use of vivid images and green walls in the station evoke the area’s market gardens, and historic rural panoramas revealed between gaps in the embankment walls enrich the daily commute.

Master planning for the project was conducted by CM+.
