Bella Vista Public School is a new school in Baulkham Hills. It first opened its doors in January 2019. The $45 million project provides 20 classrooms and covered outdoor learning spaces for up to 1000 students.

The build is part of a $6 billion NSW Government investment over four years to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools across the state.

Context Landscape Architects has specified tailored Street Furniture Australia benches with Bondi Blue and Jaybird battens, and Charcoal frames, positioned adjacent to garden beds and overlooking the sports pitches.

Simple Bins help to keep the grounds clean, powdercoated in Lobster Red for striking visual contrast between the green fields and grey pathways – easily spotted when needed.

Cycling as transport is encouraged, with 50 Semi Hoop Bicycle Parking stands installed.

The sports pitch and double-court indoor sports hall were built in partnership with Hills Shire Council and are available to the public for local community use.

TKD Architects say they worked with “a specialist educational consultant to design learning spaces which are a departure from the department’s old standards and based on new educational concepts for Future Focused Learning.”

Outdoor learning is part of this new vision. They say: “The building wings of the school radiate out from a central covered outdoor learning space, which forms an active and visible heart of the school.

“These wings also step down the sloping site to form a number of courtyard spaces with differing characters and opportunities to play.”
